So my almost-ten-year-old Prince Brat wants to read some HP fanfiction. Which presents a problem for me that's really quite embarrassing... I don't know of any non-smuterific HP fanfiction! I know plenty of genfic for Star Wars fandom, but can't name a single child-friendly HP fanfic.

Sad, really.

So - an appeal! Does anyone know of a "clean" HP fanfic that a boy Prince Brat's age would appreciate??

(And Rilla - I'm going to get the beta done today or tomorrow at the latest! Sorry for the delay)

Eldest hellmonkey says she only reads Tonks/Charlie fanfic (ahahaha! Is she my kid, or what?), but she'd be happy to send along some links if she comes across something she thinks is good. She reads on ff.net mostly and is deeply creeped out by overly romantic stuff. Let me see what I've got too. I've read a lot more gen in recent years.

Thinking about it some more last night, AO3 lets you do some really specific searches. Like, you can search for a general audience rating, gen fic, and specific characters/pairings/crossovers, etc. If you don't have a link handy:

Oh, that's great! Thank you so much! The highlighting was perfect. If you ever need to leave comments on a google doc, you just highlight the bit of text you want to comment on, then click on "insert" in the top menu and "comment" will be one of your options. And gah, thanks so, so much for reading that one for me.

"Ordinary People" by Hayseed is smut-free, although it is insinuated at one point.

If you can find it, "Grasping at Normality" by Kaz, while gorey at the beginning, is also smut-free.

The Slytherin Study Group, by rabbit and v-jinx-v series is pure crack!fic, taking place during the Maurader era.

omg is he really that old now? o.O

I'd go to fanfiction.net , do a search for HP on their lowest rating, then reverse the dates so the oldest fics come up first. It's easier to pick them out that way by looking at their review count. (And older fics tend to be canon-ish.)

You might want to print it out for him because not all her works are even near kid-friendly. She's also an incredibly talented artist who inserts her own illustrations into her fanfic.
